Head of HR for Manching Site (7000 employees)

About the role

Airbus Defence and Space seeks a strategic Head of HR to lead the human‑resources function at its Manching site, overseeing roughly 7,000 employees. You will act as the primary contact for all social matters, balancing business objectives with employee interests.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the Manching HR team, including HR Business Partners, Advisors, Talent Acquisition Partners and other specialists.
• Represent the employer in negotiations with works councils and social partners, and manage collective agreements.
• Implement operational and personnel measures in line with legal, labor and collective‑bargaining frameworks.
• Oversee vocational training programmes and set learning priorities for technical system training.
• Collaborate with the Site Manager, Facility Management and the local management board on EHS goals, crisis management and strategic decisions.
• Maintain external relationships with employers’ associations, universities, training institutions and public agencies.
• Drive digitalisation and optimisation of local personnel processes in partnership with central HR.
• Support change‑management initiatives across the site.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading large HR organisations in a complex, multi‑national environment.
• Strong knowledge of German labour law, collective bargaining and works‑council negotiations.
• Ability to balance business needs with employee welfare and to act as a trusted advisor to senior management.
• Experience managing vocational training and development programmes.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills with external partners and social partners.
