Automation Engineer – Global Technology Automation

About the role

We are looking for an Automation Engineer to join our Global Technology Digitalization & Automation unit in Münster. You will help drive automation and digitalisation across the worldwide Coatings business, creating standards and solutions that improve laboratory operations.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and continuously improve automation solutions throughout the full system lifecycle.
• Develop and maintain software components (frontend, backend, interfaces) and integrate measurement devices, robots and PLC‑controlled systems into digital workflows.
• Evaluate, prototype and deploy Computer Vision, Machine Learning and AI use cases to enhance automation capabilities.
• Lead automation projects, manage stakeholder expectations and coordinate with global teams.
• Gather requirements for new automation systems, oversee implementation activities and commission systems at local and global sites.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in automation engineering, mechatronics or a closely related field.
• Practical experience in industrial automation, software development and system integration.
• Strong knowledge in several of the listed technical areas.
• Excellent German and English language skills.
• Proficiency with standard Microsoft Office applications.
