Commercial Manager

About the role

John Paul Construction is seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to join its expanding team in Germany. You will oversee contract valuations, cash‑flow monitoring and subcontractor management across a variety of construction projects.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly, interim and final valuations, payment applications and cost reconciliations for contracts, sub‑contractors and suppliers.
• Provide data for accurate cash‑flow and contract position reviews.
• Work with the Procurement Manager to place sub‑contracts where required.
• Examine contract documents, flag anomalies and manage contractual delays.
• Schedule and agree interim and final valuation dates with client representatives.
• Produce take‑offs for Estimating, Procurement and Planning departments.
• Compile final accounts for completed sections, including adjustments, and obtain client agreement.
• Lead, coach and manage contract surveyors and junior staff.

Required profile

• 10+ years’ experience, preferably with a main contractor.
• Project experience in construction/civil engineering sectors such as residential, retail/commercial, pharmaceutical, data centre or hi‑tech.
• Chartered or working towards chartership with the Society of Chartered Surveyors (SCS).
• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
