HR Generalist (Remote)

About the role

Nextcloud is looking for an HR Generalist to support its globally distributed team. You will help shape a positive culture, ensure legal compliance, and manage the full employee life‑cycle for a fast‑growing open‑source company.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the entire employee life‑cycle process for a worldwide, remote workforce.
• Ensure compliance with German, French and Dutch employment laws, reducing legal risk.
• Participate in probationary reviews, annual performance meetings and disciplinary processes.
• Support the implementation of a new HR software platform from scratch.
• Act as a bridge between management and staff, handling grievances and requests with diplomacy.
• Provide leadership advice to middle management.
• Handle administrative tasks such as tracking sick leave and annual leave balances.

Required profile

• Degree in Human Resources or a related field.
• Hands‑on experience with HR practices and employee management.
• Strong understanding of German or French labour law and related legal requirements.
• Fluent in English and at least two of the following languages: French, Spanish, Dutch, German.
• Excellent listening skills, meticulous attention to detail, reliability, discretion and confidentiality.
