Lead Flight Test Engineer – Onsite Test Coordinator

About the role

As the Lead Flight Test Engineer you will act as the conductor of the flight line, overseeing end‑to‑end flight test campaigns for high‑performance unmanned systems. You will coordinate the daily tempo on the range, ensure clear communication of test priorities, and turn raw flight data into actionable insights while maintaining a safe, disciplined environment.

Key responsibilities

• Own the full lifecycle of flight test campaigns, from planning and hazard assessment to execution and post‑flight data analysis.
• Serve as the primary onsite leader, communicating test schedules to pilots, software engineers and support crews.
• Define test planning methodology, instrumentation plans, telemetry stack, and post‑flight review processes.
• Act as Flight Director equivalent for major campaigns, coordinating with GNC, autonomy and avionics teams.
• Lead the engineering career path, including selection, mentoring and promotion of team members.

Required profile

• 10+ years of aerospace engineering experience, including 5+ years in flight test.
• 2+ years of team‑leadership experience.
• Master’s degree (or equivalent) in aerospace, electrical or control systems engineering.
• Demonstrated end‑to‑end responsibility for a flight test campaign from test plan to certification evidence.
• Fluent in German (C1+) and English (C1+).
