Production Data Engineer – MES Development Internship

About the role

We are looking for a Production Data Engineer to own and evolve our Manufacturing Execution System (MES) during an internship. You will bridge IT and the shop floor, ensuring a seamless digital production flow that fuels real‑time factory intelligence.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain, optimise and drive the evolution of the MES to reflect physical assembly and manufacturing workflows.
• Collaborate with production teams to translate complex manufacturing processes into digital MES workflows.
• Integrate the MES with ERP and shop‑floor automation layers for full traceability and quality analytics.
• Develop and maintain data pipelines that monitor KPIs such as OEE, throughput, yield and downtime.
• Build intuitive dashboards and visualisations that deliver actionable insights to leadership and operations.

Required profile

• Degree in Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Data Engineering or a related technical field with a manufacturing focus.
• Proven experience managing, customizing and scaling MES in a real production environment.
• Strong understanding of the automation pyramid (ERP, MES, SCADA) and hardware production processes.
• Excellent communication skills to act as a translator between production workers and software developers.
• Attention to IT security and data governance.
