Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

We are a leading spacecraft manufacturer and service provider seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our growing portfolio of space and satellite projects. The role is hybrid, with on‑site work in Munich preferred for hands‑on activities and remote work possible for CAD and documentation tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end mechanical design and documentation for space hardware, payloads, and mechanical ground support equipment (MGSE).
• Create precise CAD models, assembly drawings, bills of materials and manufacturing documentation.
• Provide pragmatic engineering input during design reviews, risk assessments and change processes.
• Support prototyping, assembly, AIT and mechanical testing, including vibration testing when required.

Required profile

• 5+ years of hands‑on experience developing complex mechanical structures or mechanisms in aerospace, space hardware or precision mechanics.
• Strong problem‑solving attitude, able to understand existing designs quickly and work independently.
• Structured communication and documentation habits, familiar with collaborative tools.

Required skills

• SolidWorks (advanced CAD modelling and detailed design).
• General CAD proficiency.
• Experience with Wrike, Confluence and Slack for project coordination.
• Knowledge of manufacturability, tolerances, materials, fasteners and assembly constraints.
