Senior Opto-Mechanical Engineer

About the role

Hades is seeking a Senior Opto‑Mechanical Engineer to design and implement the optical setups for its ultra‑deep laser drilling technology. You will join the founding technical team and work closely with engineers, geologists and scientists to make deep‑earth drilling faster, cheaper and more reliable.

Key responsibilities

• Design state‑of‑the‑art, high‑stability optomechanical systems for high‑average‑power laser platforms.
• Perform opto‑mechanical analysis to minimise thermal drift and mounting stress.
• Create CAD/FEM models of optical assemblies, including stray‑light analysis and non‑sequential ray tracing.
• Produce detailed drawings using Siemens NX for optics, mechanics and support structures.
• Develop test plans and evaluate prototypes in harsh, rugged environments.
• Collaborate with optical and systems engineering teams to ensure ISO compliance and ruggedisation.

Required profile

• BSc or MSc in Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven design experience with precision opto‑mechanical products.
• Hands‑on work with high‑average‑power laser systems (>10 kW) in demanding conditions.
• Experience mounting optical fibers and building robust prototypes.
• Strong CAD, FEM and design‑for‑manufacturing capabilities.
• Motivated, detail‑oriented and able to work autonomously in a fast‑paced startup.
