Data Center Technician

About the role

As a Microsoft Data Center Technician you will stage, set up and perform hardware deployments, troubleshoot equipment, and handle hardware decommissions following standard operating procedures. The role supports Microsoft’s cloud services infrastructure across a global network of data centers.

Key responsibilities

• Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting, quickly identifying issues and replacing faulty components with minimal disruption.
• Conduct post‑execution quality checks, ensuring proper grounding, staging, labeling and cabling according to safety protocols and deployment standards.
• Decommission hardware for simple changes and refreshes such as memory upgrades and rebuilds following standard procedures.
• Communicate, report and escalate incidents to data‑center operations management, Technician Leads and engineering specialists.
• Assist and guide other technicians on challenging or complex tasks.
• Complete required training aligned to the role and workload.
