Data Science Intern – Flight Science Team

About the role

Join STARK’s Flight Science team in Munich as a Data Science Intern. You will work with flight and operational data from autonomous systems, applying advanced analytics to drive performance improvements and support engineering decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Perform exploratory data analysis on flight test and operational datasets to uncover patterns, trends, and anomalies.
• Develop, train, and evaluate predictive models and statistical algorithms for product development.
• Create visualisations and reports that clearly communicate technical findings to engineering stakeholders.
• Collaborate with Flight Science engineers to design experiments, validate hypotheses, and enrich datasets for modelling.
• Document methodologies, experiments, and results to ensure reproducibility and knowledge sharing.
• Support the evaluation of performance metrics for software‑defined features and autonomous system capabilities.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in a degree program (Data Science, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics or related) with at least three semesters completed.
• Strong English communication skills, both written and spoken.
• Availability to work full‑time for a six‑month internship.

Required skills

• Python programming for data analysis and machine learning.
• SQL for querying and managing relational databases.
• Statistical analysis and machine‑learning fundamentals.
• Data visualisation using libraries such as Matplotlib or Plotly.
• Version control with Git.
