Forward Deployed Engineer

About the role

As a Forward Deployed Engineer at Tacto you will embed yourself in industrial customers’ environments, build data pipelines and AI agents on real production data, and turn those insights into product improvements. You will work closely with procurement teams, IT staff and product engineers to deliver tangible AI‑driven value.

Key responsibilities

• Build data pipelines, agents and custom logic in customer environments on the Tacto platform.
• Own the technical side of deployments: extraction, mapping, validation and enrichment of procurement data.
• Conduct on‑site data workshops, debug with IT teams and understand real purchasing processes.
• Translate edge learnings into product improvements and documentation for engineering.
• Automate repetitive deployment steps by creating reusable agents.
• Collaborate with Solution Engineering and Customer Value to present a unified Tacto experience.

Required profile

• Proven ability to ship software, automations or technical projects used by real users.
• Hands‑on coding experience, comfortable writing Python and SQL.
• Experience building with large language models and AI agents on real data.
• Comfortable working in ambiguous, messy environments with incomplete requirements.
• Strong communication skills to earn customer trust and handle push‑back.
• 0‑4 years of relevant experience, fluent in German and English, based in Munich and willing to travel across DACH.
