IT Security Engineer

About the role

As an IT Security Engineer you will protect the company’s IT infrastructure, digital assets and products while providing regular updates to the C‑level team. You will professionalise and scale security foundations to meet NIS2 requirements and the demands of a high‑growth environment, acting as a trusted consultant for R&D and Engineering.

Key responsibilities

• Take operational and strategic ownership of IT security across a complex, international landscape.
• Advise engineers and developers on security‑by‑design principles throughout the product lifecycle.
• Lead implementation and ongoing management of NIS2 compliance and align processes with international standards.
• Report security milestones, risk assessments and compliance roadmaps to senior leadership.
• Develop and maintain endpoint security, harden client and server infrastructure.
• Monitor, analyse and lead response to security events, including forensic investigations.
• Conduct vulnerability analyses, enforce patch discipline and drive remediation.
• Design firewall, proxy and network security policies and harden network interfaces.
• Lead security‑related projects and coach IT and Engineering teams.
• Partner with the IT team on infrastructure updates and act as senior escalation point for complex issues.

Required profile

• Minimum two years of professional experience in IT security, preferably in a regulated or product‑driven environment.
• ISO 27001 certification (Professional or Internal Auditor) or equivalent credential.
• Familiarity with security frameworks and NIS2 compliance.
• Strong teamwork skills and ability to communicate technical risks to C‑level executives.
• Fluent German and English (written and spoken).
