Mid-Level Backend Software Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Mid‑Level Backend Software Engineer to join our engineering team in either Bensheim, Germany or Zurich, Switzerland. You will help build and maintain backend services for our RegTech products used by banks.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend services for banking‑sector products.
• Write clean, maintainable, well‑tested code ready for production.
• Implement complex features end‑to‑end, from requirements to delivery.
• Contribute to the evolution of our architecture, tooling and engineering practices.
• Collaborate with product management, QA and fellow engineers to turn business needs into reliable solutions.
• Participate in code reviews and uphold high engineering standards.

Required profile

• University degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• 2‑4 years of hands‑on backend development experience.
• Strong knowledge of Java and related technologies (JPA/Hibernate, Gradle).
• Solid database expertise and very good SQL skills.
• Experience with containerisation technologies in daily workflow.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with high attention to quality.
• Familiarity with clean architecture, automated testing, agile methods and cloud‑native concepts is a plus.
