Software Engineer

About the role

Moody's is looking for a Software Engineer to help build and maintain high‑performance back‑end systems that power insurance analytics applications. You will work in a collaborative environment that values curiosity, diverse perspectives, and responsible AI use.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable back‑end services and web applications.
• Participate in technical design discussions and provide input across the back‑end technology stack.
• Perform code reviews and technical analysis to ensure code quality and alignment with engineering standards.
• Develop and maintain unit and end‑to‑end tests to guarantee system performance and reliability.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to translate abstract requirements into well‑defined technical solutions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field with 3+ years of relevant industry experience, or equivalent Master’s/PhD qualification.
• Strong problem‑solving initiative and ability to work autonomously.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Adaptability to learn new languages, tools, and technology stacks as business needs evolve.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Python and SQL.
• Experience with scripting languages such as Ruby.
• Hands‑on knowledge of artificial intelligence concepts and AI tools for code generation and testing.
• Ability to design and implement high‑quality, maintainable back‑end code.
• Familiarity with unit testing, code reviews, and CI/CD practices.
• Knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is a plus.
