Software Engineer (Qodana Core)

About the role

JetBrains is looking for a Software Engineer to join the Qodana Core team. You will help bring the intelligence of JetBrains IDEs into CI/CD pipelines, enabling developers worldwide to detect security flaws, license issues, and bugs early in the development cycle.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement new static analysis checks, rules, and inter‑procedural algorithms.
• Extend Qodana’s capabilities in areas such as license compliance, security, and vulnerability detection.
• Optimize analysis execution, configure performance paths, and orchestrate runs based on project context.
• Build and refine CI/CD integrations to simplify adoption across diverse workflows.
• Collaborate with JetBrains compiler and IDE teams to align analysis engines and share insights.
• Own features from concept through release, gathering feedback and iterating for improvement.

Required profile

• A deep curiosity about code structure, compilers, and static analysis.
• Proactive mindset, willing to improve processes without waiting for direction.
• Strong collaboration skills and ability to work in a distributed, multi‑time‑zone team.
• Focus on long‑term quality and maintainability over quick fixes.

Required skills

• Deep, practical knowledge of JVM development (Kotlin or Java).
• Experience designing and implementing complex algorithms and performance‑critical backend architectures.
• Familiarity with additional language ecosystems such as C++, Rust, JavaScript, TypeScript, Python.NET, or Go.
• Background in developer tooling, static analysis, application security, or LLM‑based applications (a plus).
