Head of Maintenance – Production & Packaging Equipment

About the role

We are seeking a Head of Maintenance (w/m/d) to support and eventually deputise the current Head of Maintenance at our Sassnitz production site. The role focuses on ensuring high equipment availability, optimizing OEE, and leading a team of roughly 25 technicians across production and packaging lines.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Head of Maintenance in planning, organising and supervising all maintenance activities.
• Implement preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance strategies to minimise unplanned downtime.
• Lead, coach and coordinate a maintenance team of about 25 technicians, fostering skill development.
• Act as deputy in the Head’s absence, making decisions and managing the team.
• Collaborate with Production, Quality and Packaging to prioritise tasks and align with schedules.
• Coordinate with Purchasing, Finance and external providers for spare parts, contractors and budget compliance.
• Monitor equipment performance, analyse KPIs and drive continuous‑improvement projects.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, quality standards and company policies.
• Support equipment upgrades, installations and process optimisation projects.

Required profile

• Completed technical education or apprenticeship in mechanical, electrical or mechatronic engineering.
• Several years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Solid knowledge of preventive and corrective maintenance processes and safety standards.
• Initial experience leading or supervising maintenance teams, with the ability to act as Deputy Head.
