Mechanical Design Engineer, Unmanned Systems

About the role

SE3 Labs is developing Spatial AI for autonomous drones and ground systems. As a Mechanical Design Engineer you will own the physical integration of the autonomy platform into UAVs, payloads and related ground infrastructure, ensuring fieldability, performance and production quality.

Key responsibilities

• Translate mission requirements into hardware specifications and perform trade‑off studies.
• Design sealed avionics enclosures, cooling solutions, interfaces, release mechanisms and overall packaging for UAVs and ground platforms.
• Prototype, rework and test hardware quickly using simulation tools, test rigs and flight trials.
• Validate designs through simulation and real‑world testing, including exercises with partners and armed forces.
• Document designs and collaborate with manufacturing partners to industrialise products for large‑scale production.

Required profile

• M.Sc. in Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 2+ years of hands‑on experience in hardware design, preferably with mechanism design from concept to tested sub‑system.
• Strong proficiency in 3D modelling (CAD, preferably Onshape) and creation of production‑quality drawings.
• Knowledge of structural element selection, fastener sizing, interface design and thermal path analysis.
• Understanding of kinematics, packaging and electro‑mechanical systems.
