R&D Chemist / Chemical Engineer – Lab Scale Research

About the role

Spark e-Fuels is looking for a motivated R&D Chemist / Chemical Engineer to join its laboratory team. The role focuses on material and process research for sustainable e-fuel production, supporting catalyst synthesis and operating lab-scale reactors.

Key responsibilities

• Design, execute and iterate experimental projects aimed at catalyst and process development.
• Maintain and troubleshoot lab-scale reactor units and analytical equipment to ensure high data quality.
• Analyze experimental data using advanced analytical tools and software, and communicate findings.
• Support synthesis and characterization of novel catalyst materials.
• Document experimental procedures, results and contribute to project reports.

Required profile

• Degree in chemical engineering, industrial/physical chemistry or related field, or equivalent vocational qualification with initial experience.
• Hands-on experience building, operating and troubleshooting thermocatalytic testing units and online gas-phase analytics.
• Strong understanding of heterogeneous catalysis or closely related research areas.
• Ability to work safely with flammable or toxic gases (plus).
• Problem-solving mindset, strong organization and fluent English communication.
