Workshop Lead (Werkstattmeister) – R&D Prototyping

About the role

Stark is looking for a Workshop Lead (Werkstattmeister) to head the R&D prototyping floor in Munich. You will be the technical authority that bridges digital design and physical testing, ensuring a safe, organized, and high‑performing environment for rapid development of unmanned systems.

Key responsibilities

• Define and enforce workshop standards for cleanliness, tool placement, and machine usage.
• Manage maintenance cycles for CNC portal, manual lathe, and a large 3D‑printing farm (FDM, Resin, SLS/PA11).
• Provide hands‑on, over‑the‑shoulder guidance to engineers during build and test phases.
• Oversee inventory of R&D materials and drive selection of future high‑end CNC equipment.
• Lead a team of 3‑4 technicians in building complex prototypes such as UAV airframes, radio‑link towers, and test stands.
• Prioritise and monitor additive‑manufacturing jobs to meet R&D timelines and quality standards.
• Refine prototyping workflows to enable smooth hand‑over to series production.

Required profile

• Certified Master Craftsman (Meister) or senior technician in a mechanical discipline (e.g., industrial mechanics, model building, aviation mechanics).
• Proven experience managing machines and people in a prototyping or R&D setting.
• Strong background in manual lathe operation and CNC milling/portal machining.
• Solid understanding of FDM, resin, and SLS (PA11) additive manufacturing processes.
• Familiarity with CAD/CAM tools such as CATIA or 3DEXPERIENCE is a plus.
