Full Stack Engineer – Innovation Team (Remote, Germany)

About the role

Join the Innovation Team at Matomo to build privacy‑first analytics features. You will own the full lifecycle of new ideas, from rapid prototyping to production‑ready integration within Matomo’s core platform, working remotely from anywhere in Germany.

Key responsibilities

• Design, prototype, and deliver new backend (PHP) and frontend (JavaScript) features that extend Matomo’s analytics capabilities.
• Collaborate with the CTO and senior engineers to turn high‑impact concepts into production‑ready solutions.
• Explore and validate AI‑powered insights, visualisation tools, and integration opportunities using Python, Node.js, and other relevant technologies.
• Own end‑to‑end delivery, balancing speed and quality while avoiding over‑engineering.
• Identify blockers early, resolve issues autonomously, and escalate when necessary.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of professional experience developing backend services with PHP.
• Solid full‑stack experience, comfortable working with JavaScript on the frontend.
• Ability to work independently in a small, autonomous remote team.
• Strong problem‑solving mindset and proactive communication skills.
