Senior Software Engineer – Mission Autonomy

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to lead the development of autonomous swarm intelligence for UAVs. You will create the algorithms that decide how multiple vehicles coordinate, attack targets, and re‑organise in real time during missions.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement the swarm decision‑making engine, including task allocation algorithms such as auction‑based allocation, Hungarian method and constraint satisfaction.
• Develop deterministic, real‑time re‑planning loops that allow a swarm of UAVs and loitering munitions to adapt to changing battlefield conditions.
• Own the optimisation layer that translates operator objectives and battlefield data into coordinated multi‑vehicle strike missions.
• Collaborate closely with the Software Architect and backend team to move the swarm coordination concept to live flight demonstrations.

Required profile

• Proven experience in designing and implementing complex algorithms for multi‑agent systems.
• Strong background in real‑time, high‑performance software development for embedded or aerospace applications.
• Ability to work in constrained environments (low‑bandwidth, air‑gapped devices) and deliver production‑ready code.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and willingness to tackle “genesis‑stage” challenges.
