Backend Engineer – Java & Microservices

About the role

Join the ZEOS B2B Platform team and help build the high‑performance services that power partner‑facing products within the Zalando ecosystem. As a Backend Engineer you will work in an API‑first environment, turning complex business logic into scalable, reliable software.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain Java microservices using Spring Boot.
• Create clean, well‑documented RESTful APIs for internal tools and customer portals.
• Participate in the full development lifecycle, from coding to testing, deployment with Gradle and CI/CD pipelines.
• Deploy, monitor and troubleshoot services on AWS and Kubernetes.
• Collaborate in code reviews, agile ceremonies and contribute to technical excellence.

Required profile

• Strong interest in building robust, high‑throughput backend systems.
• Ability to work autonomously while collaborating with senior engineers and product managers.
• Commitment to operational responsibility – “you write it, you run it”.
