Senior Backend VPP Software Engineer - TypeScript

About the role

As a Senior Backend VPP Software Engineer you will join the B2C domain of 1komma5grad to build and operate a virtual power plant powered by the Heartbeat AI platform. You will create robust, scalable backend services that integrate renewable energy assets with real‑time electricity markets, enabling millions of households to transition to clean energy.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with product managers, data engineers and data scientists to translate market needs into technical solutions.
• Design, develop and optimise backend services for virtual power‑plant operations and energy‑market integrations.
• Implement APIs and abstraction layers that connect smart meters, energy optimisation tools and market interfaces.
• Ensure services are highly scalable, reliable and able to support a large number of connected users.
• Deploy, monitor and continuously improve software using cloud‑native tooling.
• Promote experiment‑driven innovation and reduce technical debt through automation and documentation.

Required profile

• Proven experience building scalable backend systems with TypeScript.
• Hands‑on knowledge of virtual power‑plant infrastructure and energy‑market integration (day‑ahead, intraday, balancing services).
• Ability to work cross‑functionally with stakeholders and deliver high‑quality code.
